Welcome to the Green N White Club Sports Report!

We are looking forward to a wonderful year, and we appreciate your support of the Green N White Club. Our organization is solely dedicated to Newman athletics and building enthusiasm and support for all Newman sports. One hundred percent of the money raised by this club goes directly to non-budgeted athletic items that benefit Newman athletic teams.

The Green N White Club Sports Report is a weekly newsletter with highlights of Newman sports contests, photos, videos, and links to news stories, plus a preview of the week ahead. Members of all levels will automatically receive a link to the report via email, but membership is not required! If you know fans who would like to receive the Green N White Club communications, including this report, have them email [email protected]. Similarly, if you prefer to stop receiving Green N White Club communications, please email Lauren as well.

If you’re not a Green N White Club member yet and would like to join, please visit this link here. The Champions Level membership includes free admission for two adults (and all children in the immediate family who don’t attend Newman) to all home games (except jamborees, scrimmages, tournaments and playoff games), a one-year subscription to Varsity Sports Now (VSN) and two spirit items. There are also Grandparent and Alumni membership levels plus five types of corporate sponsorships.

Digital Tickets

When you register for the Green N White Club, you should receive an email confirmation from “Isidore Newman School Box Office.” That email contains an important PDF attachment. Your digital ticket, which you’ll use to enter each Newman qualifying home athletic event, is in that attachment. Please have your digital ticket ready to be scanned before entering each home game. You may wish to save that ticket as a picture on your phone or to your digital wallet. If your membership includes admission for two adults, the single digital ticket will allow up to two scans per event. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].

Varsity Sports Now (VSN)

If you are a Champions Level Member or Grandparent Member, you’ll receive an email from VSN regarding your annual subscription. If you had a subscription from last year, your subscription will be canceled and a new yearly subscription will be created. You’ll receive an email from [email protected] notifying you of the transaction. If you do not receive a notification, please check your junk folder for the communication email.

Even if you don’t receive an email from [email protected], you may try to Login to VSN. Go here or to any of the Varsity Sports Now apps and SIGN IN using the email you provided when you purchased your Green N White Club membership. If this is your first VSN subscription with your email address, enter a password that you create. If you had a previous subscription, please use a password that was used with that subscription. The system defaults to that with an email that has been previously used. If you cannot remember your password, use the “Forgot Password” function.

Now on to some of our fall sports!

Volleyball

During the month of August, the varsity, JV Green and JV White teams were hard at work preparing for the season. Practices, scrimmages, and jamborees have given the players valuable time on the court to build chemistry and sharpen their skills. The varsity enters the season replacing four starters who are now freshman in college.  Co-captains Caroline Beahm and Jesse Lambert are helping to lead the way during what should be an incredible season.

This Week Ahead

Tuesday: All three teams traveled to Hahnville High School to face the Tigers, with details provided in next week’s report.

Thursday & Saturday:  The varsity team competes in its first tournament of the season at Assumption High School in Napoleonville.

Spotlight on Varsity

The varsity team has shown strong resilience in adapting to lineup changes, with new starters stepping into key roles. The leadership of Beahm and Lambert is already setting the tone for a disciplined and competitive season.  Here are your varsity players:  Caroline Beahm, Nola Borges, Cori Cenac, Caroline Hillery, Jesse Lambert, Susu Milling, Eloise Puckett, LeiLani Reid, and Jailly Vance.

Spotlight on JV

The JV squad has been building momentum in scrimmages, giving younger players valuable opportunities to grow. Their energy and hustle in practice have been contagious, setting a positive example for the program as a whole. With steady improvement each week, the JV teams are preparing to make an impact in upcoming matches.

Looking Forward

The teams are focused on continued growth and strong competition as the season begins to take shape. With both varsity and JV showing early signs of progress, the Newman volleyball program is positioned for a promising year!

Football

The Newman Greenies kicked off their 2025 football pre-season campaign last month under new Head Coach Aaron Vice with a three-way scripted scrimmage at Joe Yenni Stadium against East Jefferson High School and Jefferson Rise Charter School. Led by senior captains Henry Jackson, George Loop, and Jake Randle, the Greenies had a productive showing after completion of the first summer workouts and pre-season camp under Coach Vice.

Highlights included a passing touchdown for both junior quarterback Ren Guidry and freshman quarterback, Jaylen Hunter who shared reps in their effort to step up after the graduation of now-Princeton Tiger quarterback Eli Friend. Guidry connected with senior wide receiver Collier Villere for his longest completion (35 yards) and to senior wide receiver George Loop for a touchdown, finishing 7 of 14 passes for 96 yards. Hunter completed 5 of 9 passes for a total of 37 yards, including a strike to junior Hendrix Hill for a touchdown. Loop led the receiving corps in total yards with 59, while Hill had the most completions at five. New to the varsity receiving corps is sophomore Thomas Smallpage, who had his first reception of the season.

The Greenie rushing game was carried by senior Jake Randle behind a completely new offensive line. Randle carried the ball five times for two rushing touchdowns. PATs were successfully kicked by senior Jack “Goose” Falgoust. The Green Machine defense was stout, defying both opponents. Several new faces in new spots stepped up and helped lock down the opposing offenses. Interceptions were made by sophomores Tanner Robert and Brunson Morris.

Last Friday, the Greenies hosted the neighboring De La Salle High School in a jamboree game to close out the pre-season. The offense was carried by senior captain Jake Randle, who carried the ball five times for a total of 52 yards and the game's lone Greenie touchdown.

A stingy and experienced Cavaliers defense stymied the Greenie passing attack. Splitting time again, quarterbacks Ren Guidry and Jaylen Hunter combined for 6 of 15 passes and 15 yards in the shortened game format.

The Green Machine defense was led in tackling by Ian O’Boyle, Archie Casbarian, Jack Falgoust, Corbett “Corvette” Parrino, and captain Henry Jackson. O’Boyle also had a tackle for loss, and Casbarian heroically blocked a Cavaliers’ PAT.

Another bright spot was the kickoff return game. Loop returned kicks twice for 63 yards, and Smallpage fielded two more for 66 yards. Hill also fielded a return for 17 yards. In the end, both preseason exhibitions served as excellent preparation for the regular season, and the entire roster was able to participate in both contests, giving the coaches their best look and gaining experience roster-wide.

Next up is the first game of the regular season! Tomorrow (Thursday, 9/4) at 7pm the Greenies start the regular season campaign away against long-time arch nemesis St. Charles Catholic High School. Please come out loud and proud to support our Greenies in LaPlace! As the LHSAA Game of the Week, the game will also be televised on the LHSAA Network, available for free on AppleTV, Roku and Amazon FireTV. Go Greenies!
