Greenies Shine in State Quarterfinals, Fall Short in Semifinals
Last week, the Greenies entered the Division IV State Quarterfinals as the #4 seed and delivered a dominant performance against the #5 seed, Calvary Baptist Academy. The team swept their opponents in three thrilling sets (26-24, 25-23, 25-18), showcasing their skill, determination, and teamwork. Key performers in the quarterfinals:
Tatum Young (Sr.): 11 kills and 5 blocks
Caroline Beahm (Jr.): 11 kills
Jesse Lambert (Jr.) and Kingsland LeBougeois (Sr.): Combined 33 digs
Catherine Lapeyre (Sr): A remarkable 37 assists
Their victory advanced the Greenies to the semifinals on Friday (11/15), when they faced #8 seed The Dunham School. Despite starting strong and building a commanding lead in the first set, the Greenies were unable to sustain their momentum, ultimately losing in three sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-16).
Though their journey ended just short of the championship, the Greenies finished up with an impressive 26-12 record and have much to celebrate. This season was a testament to their hard work, resilience, and passion for the game. Congratulations, Greenies! The Newman community is incredibly proud of your achievements and look forward to what’s ahead. Go Greenies!

Cross Country
The cross country season came to its accomplished yet bittersweet conclusion at the LHSAA Cross Country State Meet in Natchitoches yesterday. On a warm and windy day, the girls raced in the morning, placing third in team competition. Leading the girls was Avery Summerour, with a time of 21:11 (11th overall), followed by CC Eustis (14th), Elise Barnett (23rd), Megan Zurik (26th), Emma Grace Stewart (31st), Lillie Dodd (44th) and Eliza Pilant (50th). Full results for the girls are here.

The boys raced in the early afternoon, and placed second in team competition, with the Division III State Championship eluding their grasp by a mere two points! Maslen L'Esperance placed second overall with a time of 16:06, the fastest time by a Newman runner in recent memory, followed by Logan DeGruy (10th), Rivers Lelong (14th), Jack Hance (25th), Tripp De Laureal (26th), Michael Madigan (29th) and Asher McCoul (31st). Full results for the boys are here.

While only seven runners from each school are allowed to compete in the state championship, nearly the entire Newman team (and many parents) joined the runners in Natchitoches to cheer them on. We are all very proud of the whole team for both their individual and collective accomplishments, and even more grateful for the coaching this season of Lauren Huber, along with the supervision of Lauren Haro at the State Meet. See you next year!

Football
The 10-2A District Champion Greenies (8-0) commence their playoff march to the Superdome and a Division III (Select) state championship at home on Friday (11/22) against D’Arbonne Woods Charter School.

After a bye week, the #2 seeded Greenies are rested and ready for their regional playoff test, with several players having recovered from injury and returning to action. Come early and come loud this Friday to support our men in their quest to do what no other Isidore Newman football team has achieved: win a state championship in the Superdome!
